What other names did your parents consider for you?
When I was born my eldest sister was 13, and she maintains that my parents promised her that she could choose my first name. But when she chose Jasmine they thought about it and said, hmm, actually we'll call the baby Mary and make Jasmine her middle name... So basically my whole identity is founded on a broken promise. :-)
